There's someone I talked to who said that 2nd Peter is a false book. Is he right? I believe the whole Bible is divinely inspired. I believe it's foolish not to believe this because the Bible itself says it's inspired and how could you believe any of the Bible if parts of it are false? So you can either have it 1 way or the other. You can either have it A) ';2nd Peter is a false book which means I have to be open to the idea that the whole Bible is false based on my reasoning'; or B) ';The whole Bible is inspired by God which means 2nd Peter is true and I am simply reading it out of context'; NOT BOTH! Does anyone have more info regarding this?Christians- Is 2nd Peter a false book?
I believe that anyone who can make the Universe, the sun and create all the animals and people. Made the earth just the right size, the moon the right distance from the earth.
A complex cell of a human and the eye or ear or heart.
Yet to think he cannot preserve a book for us to read about him and have it handed down the way he wants and then think he cannot inspire the men he wants to write in this book.
Is ridiculous!
The bible is exactly the way God wants it to be and say.
A lot of things were written for sceptics who wanted to discredit the bible. Even as Jesus did to them when he was on earth. He said, ';you have to drink my blood and eat my flesh'; Knowing some of them would leave. He was right they did. Even as today we have sceptics who take things out of context or out of the situation it was in and say ';this is wrong';
John 6:44聽No man can come to me unless the Father, who sent me, draws him; and I will resurrect him in the last day.
The truth is hidden to those who want to discredit the bible.
I believe some things were meant to be misleading.
Those who in the past used the bible to be cruel, would have been cruel no matter what the bible said, anyway.
No one ever drank Jesus blood, or ate his flesh. But the sacrifice of his body did give them life.
I see nothing in 2 Peter that the rest of the bible doesn't contain. In fact he is quoting most of the rest of the bible.
One thing that bothers people in 2 peter 3:7 being stored up for fire. When the bible says ';the earth abidth forever.';
He is not saying the globe will burn up, he just got through saying as the days of Noah. Only the wicked people died.
Genesis 11:1 uses the word earth to mean mankind in general.Christians- Is 2nd Peter a false book?
I have never heard that 2nd Peter is not an inspired letter, but I guess it happens. It is usually James that people question because they do not want to be responsible for any good work but want salvation as only Jesus and God doing everything.
The inspiration of the Bible is by faith. Either you accept it or you don't. Salvation is by faith, but when we read Hebrews, faith includes action as the chapter unfolds naming saints and their actions of faith indicating you cannot have one without the other.
Keep in mind the modern bible was compiled from the hundreds of books, letters and scribbles available by a catholic council determined to make it a coherent and convincing book that held together.
Even with such limitless material, what you hold is the best they could come up with.
Even after cutting the tomes discussing what Jesus really did from his teenage years till middle age...
Even after eradicating any mention of the theory that the new covenant was with a new God, who had used it's human son's blood sacrifice to destroy the evil demon of the old covenant...
Even after tweaking the gospels and letters to get the number of disciples consistent...
They still couldn't get it smooth enough to convince you without threats and coercion and appeals to faith.

Heh, thumbs down. Not exactly shocking. Boy howdy to the Christians hate being made to think.
B) ';The whole Bible is inspired by God which means 2nd Peter is true and I am simply reading it out of context';
That would be the correct answer. Get a good study Bible and read it, it will greatly help. You could also meet with a pastor.
Having some knowledge of the compilation of the New Testament, I say 2nd Peter is a legitimate book and belongs in the Bible, yes.
All Gospels were once at a time apart of Roman gnosis. It's funny how Christians don't accept Gnosis only because men didn't authorize all the scriptures but four.
Actually, the Bible became ';divinely inspired'; at the Council of Nicea...
it is part of a letter does that make it false not if you read it with that understanding.
II Peter is absolutely true. What part of it was he/she questioning?
It was written by Peter. Trust it.
