If the book of Mormon is false then why does it bring me closer to God?

Every time I read it the Spirit touches me and I am filled with love for the gospel and for Jesus Christ. It reminds me that Christ died for our sins. It makes me want to be a better person and do be like Christ. Whenever I read it my day is better and I can see all the blessings God has given me. I become a better person each time I read it.

If it's the Devils work, why would the work of the devil bring me so close to God?If the book of Mormon is false then why does it bring me closer to God?
Good point. I have started reading it as of last night. So far, it doesn't sound ';anti God'; to me, but quite the opposite.

EDIT: Interesting that I get a thumbs down for simply sharing my feelings and very personal experiences. Kind of make me wonder what type of people are the real ';anti-God....';If the book of Mormon is false then why does it bring me closer to God?
Why does it have to be the devil's or god's work? Can't it just be a great story that some guys wrote that is inspiring? I've read the BofM and the Bible several times each, and they have increased my awareness and spirituality, but I've also read the Koran, many works by the Dalai Lama, Krishnamurti and Ghandi and they also have contributed greatly to my life and happiness. Why does it always have to come down to who is right and who is wrong? Can't we all just learn from each other?
2 Nephi 25:26

26 And we talk of Christ, we rejoice in Christ, we preach of Christ, we prophesy of Christ, and we write according to our prophecies, that our children may know to what source they may look for a remission of their sins.

Yea, that sounds like the devil's book to me. It's simply the work of God.

But simplicity doesn't necessarily mean straight out knowing it's true. Remember the Israelites who perished because they refused to look up at the serpent that Moses rose before them. They thought it was too easy and so they perished.

Hard heartiness is one of those things that occurs in the human race.
The Book of Mormon is not false. It happens to be another testimony of Jesus Christ and it backs up what the Bible says. Just remember Jesus atoned for your sins. We in return have repay the debt by joining his true church and share the true gospel with the world. We are not a cult religion.
It's NOT false. Plain and simple.

Anyone who reads it, applies it's teachings to their life, and prays to their Heavenly Father will also gain this knowledge and closeness with their Savior and Heavenly Father.

Have a good day!
Your testimonial sounds no different from a Muslim talking about their holy book or a christian and their bible. You could be reading anything and believe that it is bringing you closer to god, it is all in your head.
Matthew 7:17-18

';Even so every good tree bringeth forth good fruit; but a corrupt tree bringeth forth evil fruit.

A good tree cannot bring forth evil fruit, neither can a corrupt tree bring forth good fruit.';

AMENZZZZZZZZZ!!!!!!!

AMEEEENNNZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ!!!!!!

PRAIZEEEEE BEEEEEE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I've never met anyone who read the Book in sincerity and didn't learn from it and come closer to God.
Romans 14:

22 Hast thou faith? have it to thyself before God. Happy is he that condemneth not himself in that thing which he alloweth.
good question and well worded! i too get that feeling when i read the book of mormon! :D CTR4EVR!
That depends on what you believe and what the Mormon faith believe. If you have to question the authenticity of the book, maybe you need to question if the book is more inspiration to you or true words of faith.

If you do not believe what the Mormons believe; people becoming Gods one day, prophits after Jesus existing, that it is Gods will to have people shunned from entering a temple cause they are not worthy/allowed to enter cause they are worthy instead of all men being equal in Gods eyes.....then it could be the Devil leading you away from your true beliefs in God.

I am not Mormon, but it is often debated about the truth to the book, the religion being a cult or Christian etc.... you need to see where you stand in the debate and then see if it is what you believe or against it. If you are against it, it could be the devil driving you away from Christian beliefs you have. If you believe in it, then it could be what brings you closer to God. Or simply it could be an inspiration to be a good person and you interpret that to meaning it brings you closer to God, which comes from it being considered religious materials.

Inspirational books can do that for some people.
God and the Devil are both imaginary characters in a fictional story. People have been inspired reading about Aslan in the ';Chronicles of Narnia'; or Frodo in ';The Lord of the Rings';.

As a resigned member of your church I can understand what you are saying about ';feeling the spirit'; but in the end, those feelings are the result of chemical releases in the brain. These releases can be triggered by a variety of sources. You want the Book of Mormon to be true so you feel satisfaction and a chemical release whenever it confirms something that you already believe. Its not magical, only psychological.
christians believe by faith because emotions and feelings can be deceptive, thats why by faith you must believe the bible is correct as it is and when I read the bible I get RHEMAs from God and knwo that is is correct and was never translated incorrectly, that is just an excuse to not obey its word. If any of it is not corretc then you might as well not use it at all. But then you say that the joseph smith footnotes makes everything fine now so now you can trust your KJV bible, still one man now makes your KJV bible correct after years of th e bible being on the earthm ya don;t think God wouldn;t have made corrections before whether you beleiv eth eearth to be six thousand year sold or 6 million year sold?
strange. your little paragraph there sounds like EVERY other goddamn mormon's testimony of the BoM. Sounds like everything everyone else says, almost word for word. someone teach you those combinations of words? been ground into your head kinda like brainwashing? hmm.. yeah.

** Why, so i can read about nephi's family camping trip? goosebumps was more life-changing for me than the book of mormon. been there, done that, much happier without it.
Placebo effect. Atleast a variation of it.

Why do people lose their headaches when they are tricked into taking sugar pills thinking it's aspirin?

Becuase they think aspirin will cure their headache.

You want to believe, that's why you believe.
If it is false, why does being a Muslim suicide bomber bring them closer to God?

Self indoctrination is exactly the same in every religion.
Fantasy is such a wonderful hiding place - you stay there just keep it to yourself so people do not have to laugh so much!!
Hi, It seems you have a desire to be close to God. So reading religious literature is giving you that closeness feeling. High church nominal Christian worship does the same. I expect Muslims feel the same. But religion is human effort to get close to God. God's real message is that Christ died as the substitute for sinners. When we accept Him he transfers his righteousness to us. Then we know we have eternal life. Many Christian religious people have found they are not saved after many years and accept Him.This is the only way to be accepted by the Holy God. In the New Testament (John ch 1)it is very clear that the eternal Word is the God that came to earth being born as the human Jesus Christ(meaning promised saviour). In Rev Ch 1 The Almighty and Jesus both have the same title(alpha/omega, first/last, beginning /end as God has in Isaiah ch 44). The Bible is accepted as the one authority for God's truth. You evidently know about the historic/linguistic inaccuracies in the Book of Mormon so why depend on something that has strange teachings, false claims and errors. May be you still need to be saved. I followed Christian religious denominations until I was 27 and then found I needed to accept Christ as saviour as I was still lost. This I did 40 years ago and now know this is the only way and the only truth. If you are seeking the truth read the Gospel of John, The book of Acts and Genesis. To be saved you need to

believe Jesus died on the cross taking the blame and the punishment for your sin and ask Him into your life. Be

willing to turn from sin with His help. Now live for Him by worshipping God, learning of Him in His Word the

Bible and owning Him before others. May God bless you as you seek the TRUTH. nev r
Sister,

II Corinthians 11:11 - 14

Wherefore? because I love you not? God knoweth.

But what I do, that I will do, that I may cut off occasion from them which desire occasion; that wherein they glory, they may be found even as we.

For such [are] false apostles, deceitful workers, transforming themselves into the apostles of Christ.

And no marvel; for Satan himself is transformed into an angel of light.

Romans 2:28 %26amp; 29

For he is not a Jew, which is one outwardly; neither [is that] circumcision, which is outward in the flesh:

But he [is] a Jew, which is one inwardly; and circumcision [is that] of the heart, in the spirit, [and] not in the letter; whose praise [is] not of men, but of God.

Esther 8:17

And in every province, and in every city, whithersoever the king's commandment and his decree came, the Jews had joy and gladness, a feast and a good day. And many of the people of the land became Jews; for the fear of the Jews fell upon them.

Ephesians 2:12 - 14

That at that time ye were without Christ, being aliens from the commonwealth of Israel, and strangers from the covenants of promise, having no hope, and without God in the world.

But now in Christ Jesus ye who sometimes were far off are made nigh by the blood of Christ.

For he is our peace, who hath made both one, and hath broken down the middle wall of partition between us;

Galations 1:6 - 11

I marvel that ye are so soon removed from him that called you into the grace of Christ unto another gospel:

Which is not another; but there be some that trouble you, and would pervert the gospel of Christ.

But though we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel unto you than that which we have preached unto you, let him be accursed.

As we said before, so say I now again, If any [man] preach any other gospel unto you than that ye have received, let him be accursed.

For do I now persuade men, or God? or do I seek to please men? for if I yet pleased men, I should not be the servant of Christ.

But I certify you, brethren, that the gospel which was preached of me is not after man.
