What in the Book of Mormon is ';false';?

So many people say the BOM is ';false';... even IF it was just written by Joseph Smith... what doctrine contained in it is incorrect?? Seriously. Let's say hypothetically that the man with a 2nd grade education made the whole book up, wrote the stories, basically made up a whole nation of people, their lineages, their lives.... ok. BUT, where is the incorrect doctrine? And I am talking about the gospel, not DNA ';evidence';, not archeological evidence, not grammar or ';word'; changes... I am talking about basic doctrine. Show me something you believe is ';false.';What in the Book of Mormon is ';false';?
Wonderful, not one answer has been provided to your question! Mike M came the closest, but his argument is from the bible where it has been argued over for centuries. For example:

James 1:12 - endureth - the word endureth is a verb, and action something we do.

James 1:22-23 doers of the word (um self explanatory)

Believe and be saved

the minister said,

Believe and be saved

and rise from the dead.

Through grace ye are saved

from sin and from hell,

So simply believe

and all will be well.

The preacher continued

and read from the book,

How all can reach heaven,

both angel and crook.

When all had been said

and the church recessed;

With money collected

and everyone blessed;

The preacher retired

to his spacious new home,

In his humble Mercedes

with everything chrome.

He sat in his study,

his thoughts running deep,

He dozed for a moment,

and died in his sleep.

He ran to Saint Peter

and wearing a grin,

Said ';I believe in the Savior,

so please let me in';

';Oh no, not another';,

said Peter with a sigh,

';Satan's sure working,

the tolls running high.';

The preacher looked puzzled,

then saw in a flash,

The plan of salvation,

beginning at last.

Believing is nothing,

if nothing is done.

In getting to Heaven

you follow the Son.

To follow a leader,

you do what is said,

Faith without works

is nothing but dead.

Satan knows Jesus,

believes in him too.

So what's the difference

between Satan and You?

Believe in the Savior,

but always recall,

Faith is important,

but sure isn't all.

I would dare to say, that of those who answered that it is false, do not know what the term doctrine means. They do not even know the claims of their own doctrine. It is easier for them to pass along lies and misconception, than it is for them to do their own research of the truth.

edit. yes mike m, check your email in regards to your interpretation.What in the Book of Mormon is ';false';?
No these people only read websites, books and anything they are indoctrinated on and not educated on.

Ignorance is bliss to them.
nothing is false
Lol!

Out of all these responses, only one person has even IDENTIFIED a doctrine from the BofM.

How credible would a movie critic be if he never watched the movie he was critiquing?! Not very. ;-)
Nothing.
Eh, sorry. I didn't think you'd get any valid answers. I don't think a single person who answered so far has even read the Book of Mormon.

They are just proving their ignorance and bigotry.
I think before anyone says it is false or not needs to read it. Then make that statement that it is false. I am not a Mormon but I do believe that before someone makes a judgment they should at least make sure it is not from someone Else's point of view. I have read the Book of Mormon by the way.
Even if it was totally made up the ideas it contains seem to lead many people to a totally happy and rewarding life, is that not what religion is trying to do
anyone that says the book of mormon is false, i *GUARANTEE* they did not read it...... it testifies of the lord, they say that's false, so are they DISproving their christianity by saying jesus was never born? (what liars........)
Nothing at all.

gw
I think you would be better off looking for some truth in it... that'd narrow it down, if you're left with anything at all.
Your question is flawed because you can't say tell me what is wrong with the book other than all of it. The entire book and everything contained in it is false. Why? Because it was not translated from Golden Plates, and it does not contain the word of God. Everything you say you don't want to talk about ';DNA';, archeological evidence, etc is exactly what proves it is false. Your question is just a pitiful attempt to make point.
Any part of a religion can be considered false or true depending on the person.

Who cares what other people think of what you believe? This is up to you in the end.
I have wondered the same thing. The breath of ignorance about the Book of Mormon, by some, astounds me.

And many people's lack of understanding of the Bible equally astounds me. For instance, some assert that the Bible says certain things, yet the mere comment or use of some references indicates a person's lack of understanding.

To say that the Bible tells us not to ';add'; to it as a whole is simply astounding to me. Do they not know that the Bible was not all written at the same time? The Bible, as we now know it, is a collection of different sub-books that was not formed until centuries after Christ.

John the Revelator and the Book of Revelation was one of the first books of the New Testament to be recorded, meaning that over half of the New Testament came AFTER John's comment ';not to add'; found in Revelations 22:18.

So if we were to take those words literally, over half of the New Testament has been ';added'; to the Bible. Each of the books of the Bible, by their very nature of being written by different authors, are an ';addition'; to the former works that existed before they wrote their portion.

The words in Revelations 22:18 refer to the Book of Revelations itself. It is so clear.

IF you understand the Bible.
I spent many months trying to answer this question. I couldn't find it. So I ended up joining the church. I was very skeptical of mormons before I took the time to find out for myself. Changed my life.
Yes.
everything. your religion is a cult, deal with it.

if you want to say every religion is a cult, that's a fair statement, but mormonism is still one of the biggest cults of the bunch
Just the fact that they use it ';in addition'; to the bible makes it false. The only word that is true is the bible.
Everything.

If he has to resort to falsehoods to get his message across, then the message cannot be worth much can it?
I never realized until now how much islam and mormonism have in common (granted no jihad in mormonism)... ';prophet'; who couldn't possibly of come up with their holy book, etc.

Similarly as with muslims, I see no reason to read your book, since people who believe it have assured me that Jesus is not God. I have to assume that this teaching is associated with the BoM, so obviously Joseph Smith failed to test the spirit that gave it to him as advised in 1 John 4 (which is the same mistake muhammad made).
the part where it says you can have multiple wives?
The pages between the front and back cover.
Well, I think that the DNA evidence and the archeological evidence and the grammar and word changed are VERY important to analyzing whether it is true or not. The Bible, in contrast with the book of mormon, is backed up by ancestral evidence, archeological evidence, and many, many other manuscripts. It is historically and geographically accurate. That's why I trust it over the book of mormon.
The bit about the bible saying any additions aren't from ';god';
EVERything....there are no modern day prophets..

NO NEED FOR THAT NOW THAT JESUS WAS HERE..
Revelation 22: 18 ';For I testify unto every man that heareth the words of the prophecy of this book, if any man shall add unto these things, God shall add unto him the plagues that are written in this book:';
What's false? how about the entire book of Morman?

did that stuff really happen?

regardless of education levels, smart people are self taught and figure out ways to do things all the time, including making things up.

the bible was the final blue print and word on how we should live and prepare for the future.

I saw the documentary on this. It boils down to most people are followers anyway. Most leaders are marketers. get the right marketing tools in place with the right people willing to use the tools and you got a very infections MLM going. That is all.
That would be the parts between the front and back covers. Same as with any other religious book.
cme on its all a bit far fetched don't u think ??

lol
There is too much to list here. Read a Bible, not one your ';church '; gave you...it is biased(sad that a bible is biased,but I digress...)

Compare the gospels with your BOM. It is a false document.

Along with the Pearl of Great Price, and the D%26amp;C. Wrong.

';The Book of Mormon has been changed hundreds of times, as a point in fact.. . . So even by their own rule, the Book of Mormon is a fraud. .';

EDIT: I have actually read it through. I found it to be like a cheap knock off of a popular series...like how Barry Hotter is a knock off of harry potter...

But besides that, if you KNOW the Bible, then , sorry, you would clearly see it is a flasehood.

EDIT: I have read your books, docturene's, PoGP, D%26amp;C. I have looked through your sacred ceramonies. Baptism for the dead is the most wrong, but hey, whatever floats your boat.... I have read about your endowment, your handshakes, your Adventures to Kolub , your racisim %26amp; Sexism, your planet ruling agenda, and the secret names in the sealing of marriage.I feel for the poor women...It must suck if she wasn't well liked by her hubby...no Spirit babies for her! ... If you READ%26amp;study a Bible, you will see all of this as a flasehood! Why can you not open your eyes to actually study these things?

These are not crazy rumors...look in your old and new docturenes...It is in there in black and white..oh wait, they don't encourage you to research your beliefs. Why? Because they know you will figure out the scham!

EDIT: Found in Revolation: Chp. 22 KJV

18For I testify unto every man that heareth the words of the prophecy of this book, If any man shall add unto these things, God shall add unto him the plagues that are written in this book:

19And if any man shall take away from the words of the book of this prophecy, God shall take away his part out of the book of life, and out of the holy city, and from the things which are written in this book.
