He who seeks truth without prudence and without skepticism will embrace any truth that suits their need for truth without having any cause to know it is truth other then belief that it is true. This is why people embrace a ';book';.Willing to believe it is true, a mind is absent of prudence and skepticism that anything could even be slightly false within that ';book';.Why do people believe in a book that contradicts itself and is completely false??
So you know the Bible is completely false, because you've read every book, chapter and verse right....
Some how I severely doubt that. Why do people believe in a book that contradicts itself and is completely false??
I don't see why you have to read every book, verse, edition, etc., to be able to claim that it is false. With IT age, there's an abundance of resources to support your belief of a book's falsity. In turn, all you have to do is research the apprpriate claim and confirm it. Basically, all one needs to do is take advantage of other people's research with an open mind, and confirm them through your research.
Back to the question: In my opinion, ';The Book'; was a way of reinforcing human being's existence and gives them a purpose of life. It really ISN'T meant to be taken literally, but to provide everyday people with something to fall back on. It should definately be read with an open mind. I still stand by my words when I say that any book written or any story created by men (or women) is subject to alteration through personal judgement and belief.
im assuming youre talking about The Origin of Species: Preservation of Favoured Races in the Struggle for Life

pffhaha i just dont know man i just dont know.
Perhaps they don't realize just how extensive the contradictions are
Because the natural mind sees it that way. When you are a christian, prayer asking God to reveal Himself throught His word will work wonders!
I don't take the bible literally.
The Bible is flawless.
The devil also knows the Bible from front to back.
So, what are you getting at?
Matthew 7:13
[ The Narrow and Wide Gates ] ';Enter through the narrow gate. For wide is the gate and broad is the road that leads to destruction, and many enter through it.
Matthew 7:14
But small is the gate and narrow the road that leads to life, and only a few find it.
John 3:20
Everyone who does evil hates the light, and will not come into the light for fear that his deeds will be exposed.
John 3:21
But whoever lives by the truth comes into the light, so that it may be seen plainly that what he has done has been done through God.';
The are in fear, mass hysteria passed down the ages from men's need to comprehend the universe around them.
They use it to find an end that will justify the means.
I have often wondered that to. It is so much easer to believe the BIBLE then any of the those books.
What book are you talking about? The Bible? There once was a man that said he would rather believe in God and be right than not believe and when he meets God find out he was wrong! What's the problem really? Are you afraid you might have to change? Well you are right you might have to give up heart ache, depression, a life of depravity, and in it's place you would get happiness, joy, peace, and love everlasting! Wow wouldn't that be awful?
Because atheism, agnosticism and deism are depressing when compared to the spiritual happiness that comes from believing in God. If you believe in God- whether or not He's real- you generally do feel happier.
