If some Holy Book provided an alternative, false explanation for disease .....?

..... Would adherents of its associated religion be as desperate to discredit the germ theory as YECs are to discredit evolution? If some Holy Book provided an alternative, false explanation for disease .....?
Yes some of them would, while others would take things metaphorically as to keep their beliefs in line with the new found knowledge. If some Holy Book provided an alternative, false explanation for disease .....?
Like all scientific theories, the germ theory is false. So is the theory of gravity. Evolution is a fact, but there are bound to be details people have got wrong such as how closely particular taxa are related.

And, the germ theory is actually wrong enough to be quite problematic. It means, for example, that vaccines are produced which encourage IgE production when alpha globulin would be better, because the importance of external barriers to infection is underestimated, and that broad-spectrum antibiotics are used rather than approaches which encourage the non-specific immune response. The reason the germ theory is flawed is that it serves the interest of pharmaceutical companies and the establishment of orthodox medicine that it's flawed, and that's because of the existence of sin (as is much disease, for instance malnutrition due to poverty is the result of sin, as is poor sanitation).
It's hard to imagine another religion whose adherents would be as desperate to avoid the truth as YEC's are.
